inside the Embryo

The Anthology of Common Nonsense and Digadaga (dig-uh dog-uh) by misterEmbryo

A World of Color

Like a soft blanket of frost soothing the dry surface of a far and desolate place, a strange urge came over me, illuminating my insides. I felt my heart glow a warm radiant amber. Tonight, I want to watch a Disney movie.

I must confess, this sudden craving for sweet song and dancing color wasn’t entirely out of the blue, or some supernatural transmission sent down from above. Rather, a song from Aladdin played on my iPod. Still, there was some magic to the catchy melody of a manic Robin Williams that sent my soul aflutter. Call it nostalgia. Call it escapism. Call it homosexuality. Call it what you will. Whatever it is about Disney that appeals to me so much, I needed it.

For an hour and thirty minutes, I will be transported into a whole different dimension: two dimension, where your friends take the form of fuzzy animals and anthropomorphic furniture, while your enemies become hideous imaginings of evil: twisted beards and slimy tentacles. Where every word has meaning (whether it’s to make us laugh, make us cringe, or make us fall in love) and every passion is expressed through song.

We need adventure in our lives. Whether it’s fear that stops us, laziness, or an unsightly beer gut that keeps us from exploring the vast unknowns of our world’s great mysteries, thanks to Disney, we can do it vicariously through a mouse, a mermaid, or a lion.

Tonight we will watch a Disney movie, beer in hand, and lose ourselves in a world of beautiful color.
